Challenge: Record a CD-ROM soundtrack in a world of different languages.
Solution: Horizons’ staff put its talent and extensive contacts to work, recording this CD-ROM project in English and in ten other languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Hmong, Cantonese, Korean, Haitian Creole, Arabic, Russian, Tagalog and Khmer. |

Project: English as a Second Language
Challenge: Describe the benefi ts of CPS’ English as a Second Language program to parents who don’t speak English.
Solution: To help Columbus Public Schools deal with an influx of culturally diverse students, Horizons created a video describing the ESL program
offerings that included community leaders from different nationalities. We then translated and re-recorded the soundtrack into Spanish, Chinese,
Arabic, Somalian, Tigrinian, Cambodian, and Laotian. |

Project: Literature: The Reader’s Choice
Challenge: Increase enjoyment, understanding and accessibility of textbook literature selections to all students.
Solution: For eight full length middle school and high school literature textbooks, Horizons brought dramatic voice to every single story, poem and play. Each of the hundreds of literary selections featured a full soundtrack, with realistic sound effects and culturally-appropriate actors. |
